The late Ivan Semwanga, the ex-husband to Ugandan socialite Zari Hassan passed away on Thursday, May 25.
Hassan, the current wife to Tanzania bongo superstar Diamond Platinumz broke the news on social media that the father of her three sons passed away after a week of being admitted to hospital. Semwanga suffered a stroke that led to his admission at a Pretoria, South Africa hospital.

The entertainment scene was thrown into shock after Zari announced the death of her socialite ex-husband Ivan Semwanga.
Fans, family and friends all gathered to mourn their beloved, friend and brother.
His body was brought home to Uganda where it was received by hundreds of mourners at Entebbe International Airport.
On Monday, May 29, a funeral service was held for the late Semwanga at Namiremebe Cathedral as hundreds more mourners joined his family to bid him farewell.
The late Ivan was a billionaire tycoon with properties in both Uganda and South Africa, including multi million shilling mansions, numerous high end vehicles and a group of high end schools in South Africa.
Before his death, it was rumoured that Zari was already eyeing her late ex-husband’s wealth which resulted in a bitter fight between her an Ivan’s siblings.
She was branded a gold digger who camped at Ivan’s bed, waiting for the bad news so that she can go ahead and claim everything.
Diamond Platinumz was quoted as saying it was a big tragedy for Zari and her family to loose Ivan considering they sired three sons together.
He said this while on tour in Kenya, saying he couldn’t have put off the Kenyan trip after promising his fans to show up on Sunday, May 28, for the Koroga Festival. This, of course, was able to happen after Zari allowed him to keep the promise.
This is how Zari eulogized her late ex-husband:
“God loves those that are special and that’s exactly who you were & I guess that’s why he wanted you to himself. You have touched and helped thousands, you did wonders and I remember you telling me “life is too short let me live it to the fullest”,
“This very dark hour it makes sense why you always said those words to me. To your sons, you were a hero-some kind of superman. Anyone who has ever been in your presence knows what a charming person you were,
“You will be missed and remembered in so many ways. You were IVAN THE GREAT! Rest in peace DON,” wrote Zari on social media.
