2019: APC Stakeholders Reject Okorocha As Zonal Campaign Chairman
Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the South East have rejected Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha as the zone’s chairman of the 15-man Campaign Council set up by Transport Minister, Chibuike Amaechi.
Amaechi is the Director General of the Buhari Campaign Organization.
In a meeting called by the South East zonal Chairman, Chief Emma Eneukwu at the instance of Amaechi, the Zone’s Stakeholders rejected Governor Okorocha as the new chairman for the zone.
Reacting to Amaechi’s briefing to the South East stakeholders at the residence of Senator Chris Ngige in Abuja, the leaders provided several verifiable reasons Okorocha should not be the chairman of the South East campaign council.
They sited ,”Okorocha’s unpopularity among Ndigbo, the religious organizations and his inability to provide effective leadership to the APC in the South East.
“The loss of two governorship elections in the South East and his refusal to fund APC in Imo State and other anti-democratic actions.”
Amaechi, after listening to the avalanche of negative remarks by the stakeholders, advised the stakeholders to manage the decision.
He explained further that he was making efforts to appoint serving APC governors as Chairmen of the 15-man Campaign Council being set up in all the zones.
