We need more artiste managers , cries out D’banj
-Reveals how his CREAM platform recorded 3 million subscribers in one year
Nigeria’s music heavyweight, D’banj has stressed the need for artistes to go all out to hire managers that will project their brands, saying “ a musician without a manager is like a building without a foundation.”
The ‘Oliver Twist’ singer made this assertion during the week, while marking the one year anniversary of his CREAM platform by rewarding lottery winners with cash prizes.
In his words, “We need more artiste managers now than ever. Talents are everywhere, we need those that will manage their brands while the artiste will concentrate on making music.”
“If you are an artiste and you don’t have a manager, you are wasting your time as nobody will see your content.”

He said a lot of musicians today are focusing more on the fame and artistic sides of showbiz without also paying attention to the business side of entertainment.
D’banj, however, advised musicians to endeavour to hire mangers who will manage their brands and turn N1 million into N10 million.”
Meanwhile, appraising the activities of his CREAM platform which he rolled out in September, last year, D’banj revealed that the online platform has recorded over three million subscribers. He also revealed that the platform is still worth $100 million.
The singer said: “CREAM was valued by KPMG, nine months into the platform. We haven’t done any evaluation since then. I am sure it has increased because we have had great partnership and expansions.”
The event, which held at Renaissance hotel, GRA, Ikeja, was commemorated with raffle draw event. The raffle draw was conducted using mobile phone numbers as entry tickets. Five winners emerged within and outside Lagos respectively, after the draw, and were rewarded with cash prizes.
Pop singer, Harrysong and Godwin Tom, artiste manager, were amongst the industry heads present to mentor the winners. The Creative, Reality, Entertainment, Arts and Music (CREAM) platform provides upcoming artistes the opportunity to have their songs recorded and shoots videos for the budding artistes. An innovative digital musical talent hunt, the platform also helps discovered talents secure collaboration with established acts. Rayce , TK Swag, MKJ, Leke Benson and Legend Courage are the first set to benefit from the platform.
