Leicester City star Christian Fuchs reveals why Claudio Ranieri was sacked
Ranieri, appointed City manager in July 2015, and led Leicester City to the greatest triumph in the Club’s 133-year history last season as the Foxes were crowned champions of England for the first time.
His sack comes just one day after Leicester were beaten 2-1 by Sevilla in the last-16 of the Champions League at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan stadium. Since his exit, Leicester have responded with three League wins and progressing to the Champions League quarter finals as they face Atletico Madrid in the quarter-final.
Christian Fuchs and Claudio Ranieri Fuchs, 30, explained that the Italian manager lost his job due to his teammates’ non-stop showboating. ”We were maybe over-motivated, and we wanted to prove just why we are the reigning champions.
There were spells when we played with fancy flourishes, back-heels and special finishes, simply to show what we can do.
“We were no longer pragmatic, and we unintentionally neglected to do the basics. “There were no conversations between the club’s bosses and the players about getting rid of Claudio Ranieri. “But I was sure that people would think we were to blame. So after Claudio was sacked I turned my mobile off completely for three days.” he explained.
