Stop Misinforming Nigerians, Onuesoke Tells Lai Mohammed
Sunny Onuesoke, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has berated the Federal Government and Lai Mohammed, the Minister of Information, over the “unceremonious looters’ list released on Friday and Sunday by the Federal Government”.
Speaking with journalists in Kano, the former governorship aspirant of the PDP in Delta State said the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led Federal Government came up with the list because it has nothing to show for its three years in office.
“Since they have no tangible achievement to hinge their campaign on in the coming elections, they have devised new ways of deceiving unsuspecting Nigerians through cheap blackmail and propaganda.
“Only in an APC government that you have such a lying information minister whose name is now widely referred to as Mr. Lie Mohammed across the globe. Don’t be surprised if you find Sunny Onuesoke in the next batch of looters’ list.
“In a sane country, the likes of Lai Mohammed would have been wallowing somewhere in Kirikiri prison for deceiving and manipulating millions of Nigerians prior to the 2015 elections into believing the many lies and propaganda which came out of their mouth, today innocent Nigerians are bearing the brunt of those lies and propaganda in form of severe hardship, starvation, penury, loss of lives/loved ones and property,” he added.
The minister had on Friday and Sunday released two controversial lists of those who have allegedly looted the nation’s treasury. The names in the list revealed were mostly members of the opposition PDP, who are currently being tried for corruption and financial crimes.
He also challenged Mohammed and the APC-led government to release the names of APC members in the government who also have corruption cases to answer, if Nigerians are to take them seriously with their so-called looters’ list.
“It is curious to know that the so-called looters’ lists contain only names of PDP members who have not been declared guilty by any court of law. This of course is a great contravention of the rule of law. I challenge them to release the names of APC members in this government with serious corruption allegation, if Nigerians are to take them seriously with their so-called looters’ list.
“It is a deliberate attempt by the APC-led Federal Government to deceive Nigerians by intimidating and dehumanising members of the main opposition party in order to tarnish the image of PDP before the 2019 elections,” he further asserted.
