Osinbajo: Nigeria Will Not Move Forward Until We Are All Truthful
Vice-president, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo on Tuesday said Nigerians must be truthful and honest in their dealings for the country to move forward and progress in all ramifications.
Osinbajo made the remarks at the maiden edition of South-West Regional Youths Summit held in Osogbo, the Osun State capital.
According to him, the trade-mark of absence of integrity and corruption amongst majority of Nigerians was the major source of array of national problems the country was currently facing.
He said, ” if corruption could be tackled, 70 per cent of nation’s problems would be solved without blemish”.
Osinbajo added that Nigeria, as a nation -state had lost many international partners due to lack of integrity and trust.
“Any nation that fails to uphold integrity as the focal point of its principle and ideology will always fail. The values of integrity and hard work are necessary for the development of our nation,” he said.
He also urged the youths to embrace the virtue of diligence and self education and consciousness of small beginning to move to a greater level in life.
“You dont have to cheat or steal to be successful in life; you must be ready to convert your challenges to opportunity,” he added.
Osinbajo also urged the youths in the region to support the 25 years development agenda for the region and the development of the nation as a whole.
In his remarks, Gov. Rauf Aregbesola of Osun State said the summit was important to chart a positive course for the development of the western region.
Aregbesola asserted that it was painful that the Western region could not feed itself despite the abundant of human resources, adding that it was a challenge leaders of the region must consciously address through policy statements.
Meanwhile, Governor, Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State in his remarks said the summit was aimed at promoting and enhancing the future of the western region.
He urged the youths of the region not to give up in their quest to develop the region through creative ideas and innovations.
