Nigerian, two others arrested in India for drug peddling
The Vasai Local Crime Branch (LCB) arrested two locals, who had come to sell 21.7kg Ephedrine drug at Manikpur, Vasai West, India last Sunday night, October 1.
The cops have also nabbed a Nigerian national identified as Stephen U, who had come to buy the entire cache from the duo. Along with the drug consignment, a high-end luxury car has also been recovered from the crime site.
The drug is worth crores in international market as various party drug products can be manufactured with the help of this stock seized.
According to reports, the Vasai LCB received a tip-off that there a huge cache of drug would change hands at Manikpur in Vasai West. Acting on the information, the sleuths laid a trap to nab the accused.
“We have arrested two people who were selling this drug at Vasai West”, Said Ashok Honmane, PI LCB. He also confirmed about the arrest of the Nigerian national who was there to purchase the entire lot.
The Indian accused have been identified as Sarfarqz Yousuf Memon and Sohail Yousuf Memo.
Sohail Memon has been identified as the same person who had last month slapped a traffic cop 3 to 4 times during an argument, in full public view at a busy Vasai junction.
They have been arrested under various sections of NDPS act of 1985 and have been remanded to police custody till the October 7.
