In Abuja, technician bags two months for stealing computer hard drive
A Karmo Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja, on Wednesday sentenced a 22-year-old technician, Sumaila Usman, to two months imprisonment for stealing computer hard drive.
The judge, Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq, who gave the verdict, however, granted the convict an option of N10, 000 fine.
Sadiq, who warned him to desist from committing crimes, said the sentence would serve as a deterrent to others.
Usman, who resides at Angwa Hausa, Karmo, was arraigned for theft.
He pleaded with the court to temper justice with mercy as he entered a guilty plea.
Earlier, Police Prosecutor Zannah Dalhatu told the court that Fahad Adamu of Karmo Area Court reported the incident at Karmo Police Station on March 25.
Dalhatu said the complainant took his Acer laptop and charger to the convict to repair and in the process, the accused stole his hard drive from the computer.
The offence contravened Section 287 of the Penal Code, Laws of the Federation.
