Imo assembly rushes plenary session, rejects Rochas’s transitional committee
Speaker Imo state House of Assembly, Mr. Acho Ihim, Wednesday, hurried his colleagues to make snappy their presentation due to an unconducive nature of the chamber. “Members please be fast in your presentation you can see that everybody is sweating and fanning themselves” the speaker said. The speaker’s displeasure came when he noticed that some of his colleagues and other people present in the chamber were fanning themselves with papers because of the hot environment. In another development, the Imo state House of Assembly, the same day, moved against the 27 transition committee chairmen appointed by Governor Rochas Okorocha, that their tenure have “expired.” According to the speaker, Mr Acho Ihim, “the tenure of the transition committee chairmen is long over due.” The speaker also said that the 27 transition committee chairmen should appear before the House of Assembly and defend themselves on while they should not be sacked. He also said that any of the transition committee chairmen who failed to come as invited should have himself blamed. He said, “We are inviting the 27 transition committee chairman to appear on Friday (this week) by 12 noon at the conference hall of the Imo state House of Assembly, to come and explain to us why we should not dissolve them. “They are also expected to come with all the documents containing their achievements. If any of them fail to come will have him or herself to be blamed.”
