Among the few geniuses is 14-year-old Olayinka Ezekiel Adejumo, a JSS 3 student who just woke up one day while in primary school and discovered he can draw.
None of the schools he attended had a fine art teacher so he didn’t start drawing after he was taught in school. plusmilang.com Entertainment visited Olayinka and he shares his passion for the arts while his mother watches us with pride and admiration.
Olayinka Ezekiel Adejumo is a 14-year-old boy JSS 3 student who has passion for the arts.
Young Olayinka discovered he could draw while still in primary school. His first drawing was that of nobel laureate Prof Wole Soyinka whom he knew nothing about but just saw his photo on the pages of newspaper and decided to try drawing him and the result was excellent for a primary school pupil who had no prior training or formal education in drawing.
With constant practice Olayinka got better that his mum was advised to allow him learn more about his God’s given talent. He was later enrolled with an artist who on testing his ability saw he has a bright future in drawing. According to his mum, his boss agreed he is better than him in drawing only that he lack the necessary finesse to make his artworks marketable. He was signed on a three year apprenticeship deal which initially affected him academically and his teachers’ complaint to his mother made her make another arrangement of him going learning the art on Saturday while he attends to his academics during the week and rest on Sunday.
Speaking to PLUSMILAJ.com Entertainment, Olayinka said: “My ability to draw is a talent from God. I only went to learn went to learn how to shade and how to scale.”
If you doubt that his talent is from God, NAIJ.com checks revealed that he had no fine art teacher in his school, not even in the secondary school that he attends.
When asked what he would like to be in future, Olayinka said all he wanted to be is an artist. He promised to take up the course in higher institution if he has the opportunity of attending one. Though he is yet to star making money from his artworks, his younger brother has also taken interest in drawing like his elder brother but unlike his brother he wants to become a banker and work in London in future.
Among the notable celebrities he has drawn under his Olayinka Arts include Professor Wole Soyinka, Lagos state governor Akinwunmi Ambode, Living Faith Church Bishop David Oyedepo, music stars like Davido, Wizkid, Tiwa Savage, Lynxxx, Sean Tizzle, Tekno, Falz, Yemi Alade and more.
Olayinka said his favourite music stars are Davido and Olamide. He wishes to give him his drawing. What an innocent wish of an innocent boy.
The young artist is from a humble family. His family lives in the Giwa-Oke Aro axis of Ogun state and goes to school in Agege area of Lagos state.
Young and promising Nigerians like Olayinka Adejumo needs help to become great in life without waiting for a white collar job.
